“We welcome Volvo Cars in our midst and are convinced that the company will make a valuable contribution to the work of our association”, said Ivan Hodac, Secretary General of ACEA.
Volvo Car Corporation already established a close working relation with ACEA as part of Ford Motor Company. “We are looking forward to continue our partnership with the other major European automobile manufacturers in the fields of EU regulation and industrial policy at large”, said Stefan Jacoby, President & CEO of Volvo Cars. “Joining the European automotive association is an important step and reflects our strong European roots.”
The European automotive industry is key to the strength and competitiveness of Europe, sustaining high levels of employment, fiscal revenue, external trade, research and innovation. The industry is a world leader in improved vehicle safety and in technologies that help limit the environmental impact of transport. A competitive regulatory framework is essential to secure further progress and maintain automotive manufacturing in Europe.
Automobiles are among the most regulated products in Europe with much of the regulation being of a very technical nature. Through ACEA, the European vehicle manufacturers share their specialists’ knowledge with EU Institutions and other stakeholders to support effective and efficient policy making. ACEA also provides clear and factual information to the public-at-large on the automobile industry and its contribution to EU society.
